Kenyan Nyeri Peaberry
Grown on the South facing slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro at an altitude of over 5,000 ft, these Peaberrys are abound with a wide range of characteristics ranging from mild body, black currant fruity-ness, very delicate, light mouthfeel, very vibrant and lively in the cup.
What are "Peaberrys"? Normally a coffee "cherry" contains two seeds, which are what we refer to as "coffee beans". Occasionally a single seed will form inside the cherry. Many people believe that this single bean develops with much more concentrated flavor as a result of its singularity. This Kenya Peaberry from the Nyeri growing region may be the best example to support that idea.
So as not to cover up the sparkling fruit highlights, we take this Kenya to a City + roast (light-medium). The result is a bright and lively cup with sweet citrus (mandarin) fruit overtones and medium body. A great filter-brewed coffee.
