Guatemala Antigua Entres Volcanes
Antigua is the old capital city of Guatemala which was destroyed in an
earthquake in 1773. Antigua is also Guatemala's oldest and most famous
coffee growing region. The magnificent volcanoes of Agua, Acatenango,
and Fuego enclose this valley. Fuego lives up to its name (fuego means
fire in Spanish) by spewing forth volcanic ash which continues to add
to the rich soil of the area. Antiguan cups are nice bodies, full-on bright
coffees with spice.
This is one of our favorite beans this year. The aroma is rich, dark,
chocolate, classic in every sense. Excellent for the morning-brewed press-pot.
The acidity is low to medium, and the body is full. This is a very well
balanced cup. The flavor is subtle, dark, mocha notes, and rich, but not
over powering.
